Bathing Your Cat’s For The First Time Is Quite Difficult- Here Are Some Tips You Can Consider!

If you have just adopted a kitten and it is your first time taking them to a bath, then that can be a quite difficult activity that you have to do. But you can survive that only if you know the proper tactics to handle them. These kittens can be quite playful or kittenish as they can get into the mud or mimic the dirty mop just after chasing the dust bunnies.

So you need to make sure you are considering the right way to clean the cats properly, and some of the things you can consider will be here.

Look for the right spot

If you are looking for a place where you can take your kitten for their bath, then a bathroom or kitchen sink can be the best place for that purpose. If the cat you have is big, then you can even choose the bathtub. One thing that you need to make sure of is to give them proper space where they can move.

Get ready

Before you take them to the bath, you need to ensure that everything is ready before you bring the cat, and for that, you need to consider these things-

  • You need to fill the sink or the tub with lukewarm water about three to four inches. Your cat might be sensitive to hot or cold water, so lukewarm water works best. If you have a sprayer, that is best, but if you do not have that, you can use the plastic cup to keep them wet.
  • After that, you need to keep the shampoo for your feline ready; you need to consider the natural cat shampoo because human shampoo can be harmful to them.
  • Grab some towels, which should be soft; you need to keep these things ready because as soon as the bath is done, your cat may try to run. If you have the towel near you, then you will be able to dry them off easily.

Get them wet

Before taking her to the bath, you need to comb them thoroughly to get the deep clean; you need to think that it is the spa time for your cat, and you need to pamper them properly. While you take the cat in the water, you need to hold her far out in case they try to claw her way out of the water. You can encourage them for that by singing their favorite tune. You need to keep your finger on your cat’s chest to control them, and if they are big, then you can hold her from shoulder. Finally, you need to rinse the shampoo from her body because that can irritate them.

Dry them with a towel

Once they have taken a bath, you need to grab the towel you have kept aside, wrap the coat, and dry it off. Cleaning the cat may not be easy for you, and that is why you need to be patient and calm; if your cat is good enough, you can even reward them with their favorite food.
